Full Moon – shining light in dark places

Channeling 5.11 am

Greetings Awakening Hearts

The energy of this approaching full moon has got me up early this morning. After tossing and turning for an hour I gave in and realized there is a message to be shared.
The question begs “Who am I?” as we live in times of extreme change it is also the time of great opportunity for growth and realization of who we are and why we are here.
It is a time of awakening, to claim our freedom, to move forward and reclaim our sovereignty. To ask the deep questions and then make time to hear the answers. How often do you ask the questions but then get busy again with “life” and make no time for stillness? For it is in the stillness that the answers will come to you if you stop long enough to listen and hear the answer.
The world as we know it is changing forever and for the better giving humanity the opportunity to unite in peace, love, and purpose for the good of all.
We, as a humanity have been enslaved to systems for too long, systems of control and lack. Oh, we can tell ourselves how grateful we are for the lives we have, for the perceived freedom but for most we are bound to debt, restriction and limitation and for too long we have known no different. In fact, we have been told how much better our lives are now than they were a hundred years ago. But what if there is so much more waiting for us to claim?
It is time to bring balance to our body-minds by playing more, freeing up on all levels of our being. For too many our physical bodies are bound and heavy or light and tight as we hold onto unexpressed emotion, suppressed dreams, restricted by how we have been told to live our lives in lack and control as we have been steered through the systems that make up our lives.
Well ENOUGH, it is time to break free of the expectations and take the road less traveled, walk where there is no path, venture into the unknown and create a life that is free, rich, connected and purposeful for the good of all.
But how I hear you ask.
Be curious. Be open to the unexpected, be brave and feel everything, let the light of this full moon shine in on all your dark places and reveal the magnificence of who you really are. A being of light, a sovereign soul whose time has come to shine in the fullness of colour.
We will look back on these times and realise that we have been living in black and white and now it is time to lift the veil and let the colour in.
So, I ask you to consider the following:
Where in my life can I let more colour in and what would that look like?
Is there room for my mind to open more to new possibilities and new ways of living?
What does freedom feel like to me?
If time and money were not an issue for me what would I be doing?
Ponder these questions, walk with them, journal your first thoughts to clear your head for more to come in then go back and find the gems of wisdom on your pages.
That’s all for now but I feel there are more insights to come so stay open, because we are entering a new age and the possibilities are endless and remember, YOU are the creator of your life. Bathe in this full moon light and see what there is to be revealed.

Seeking your own truth

Sunday August 23, 2020; 3.11am channelling

Greetings awakening hearts

Sharing this with you to do with as you wish. I was awoken to receive this message.
It is time to take action as we need to move forward together.
It is time to turn off your mainstream media and start to go within to get your own answers to questions you have and to question everything you are being told.
All is not what it seems right now and has not been for a long time. Take the blinkers off and begin to tap into your own intuition, your own innate wisdom, you all have it.
It is the light within, the voice within you that is calling for you to make time to stop and check in.
You need to stop long enough to hear your answers then trust what you first hear. The muscle of intuition, for many, has not been developed or encouraged to be developed because it is so empowering. You need to empower yourself right now so that you can move forward as an enlightened being into the future you want.
There is always free choice but right now we are faced with times never before seen, times never before experienced and times where truth needs to be revealed. A veil has masked what is really beneath you and it is time to let light uncover the darkness, the mysteries, the truth.
This is something that humanity needs to do together, rise together and take your power back. There is a tide right now, gaining momentum, that needs your contribution.

What can you do?

Stop and question everything you have been told to this point in time right now.
Open your mind to the possibility that there is a whole new world awaiting for you that is one of collaboration, support, ease, fairness, love and compassion. A redistribution of wealth and power to the people, as a whole, not a minority group.
This is the time where you can have all that you dreamed of but first wake up. There is much and many to be freed and healed and you have all the help you need, it is all there for the asking.
Take your power back, start questioning, open your incredible minds.
You are a being of light with an innate system of healing that you have no idea you have. Take the poison away, i.e. what the media are feeding you along with the literal poison you are ingesting.
Eat organically grown food – you then eliminate poisons in your food from how it is grown.
Eat seasonally and locally – food that is not sprayed with chemicals.
Drink clean water with no additives – filter them out.
Move your body daily and embrace nature.
Let the wonders of nature enter your body/heart/mind.
Practice acts of kindness to your fellow human beings and see the ripple effect of this play out.

Open your mind to a new world, things are not going back to normal.
The world is being cleaned up right now and all is not what it seems.
Have a vision for your future that contains freedom for humanity.
Freedom, love, peace, joy, kindness and compassion, more ease less struggle, more time less stuff!
What makes life rich for you? What makes you heart sing? What do you want to leave behind when your time on this earth plane is over? How do you want to be remembered on this planet by the people of Earth? What contribution are you here to make?
We are here to give, not to take.
Turn off mainstream media, it is not a source of truth. Seek your own truth.
Ask yourself; How can I be of service? What have I come here to give?
There is more than enough for everyone on this planet to live meaningful lives that contribute to the greater good.

Namaste,
Sarah

Winter Retreat Mulled Wine

We take no credit for this one: it’s directly from the website of Jamie Oliver himself!

https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/fruit-recipes/jamie-s-mulled-wine/

Sarah

This is the recipe we used for the mulled wine enjoyed on our retreat. I have to say it was a very nice addition to the program and I can confirm that the leftovers heat up really well to be enjoyed a few days later!

I like the idea of this becoming a winter solstice tradition. On the shortest night of the year you make up a batch and relax with candle light and loved ones to celebrate light whilst enjoying the warmth and delicate flavours of mulled wine, yum!

Kel

Leftovers? What leftovers? 😉

I’ve never seen clementines anywhere in our supermarkets but they are a mandarin hybrid so just use mandarins and it will work wonderfully! I discovered this recipe a few years ago and several experiments later, it is by far my favourite. I also use rapadura sugar as it’s less refined and I like the brown sugar flavour. Chianti is the best but it works well with local, medium-bodied red wine.

It’s a lovely drink to enjoy with loved ones on a winter evening, by the fire or with some candles burning. Certainly it adds a new element to the wine experience and just holding the cup and enjoying the aromas of it brings out a sense of long tradition. Enjoy mindfully!

Crock Pot Apple & Quinoa Porridge

1 1/2 cups dry quinoa
1/2 cup steel cut oats
3 cups water
3 cups almond milk unsweetened
2 apples diced
1/4 cup coconut sugar
1 T cinnamon
1 T ground ginger

This porridge is great because you can set it all up the night before, meaning you don’t have to think about a healthy, delicious breakfast in the morning!

Place all ingredients in slow cooker and stir well. Set on low and leave overnight (6-8 hours).

Once cooked, stir well before serving.

To serve, add more milk and top with yoghurt, chopped nuts or whatever you enjoy.

Serves 8 but will keep in the fridge and can be reheated to serve again.

If you leave it on for too long it does get gluggy, so perhaps not the best option if you intend to have a sleep in! Red and black quinoa hold their texture a little better under cooking so you might like to experiment with them for a longer cooking time. Even if it does overcook, it still tastes delicious. Get some texture back by adding freshly grated apple or shredded coconut.

For an avenin-free alternative (avenin is the protein found in oats that some people react to), you might like to try replacing the oats with quinoa flakes or amaranth seed to give it a porridge-like consistency. We haven’t tried these yet, so let us know what alternatives you enjoy!

Honouring the changing times

Honouring the changing times

Greetings awakening hearts
The time has come for me to honour what I have felt for a long time now, to let this work flow through me to you.
I have been channelling for years but I guess it takes a while to trust what it is and who it is for.
I know these messages need to be shared and are no longer for my eyes and ears only.

It is time to wake up and take notice of what you are feeling. As a collective we are being pushed now more than ever to honour change. Things are not going to “go back to normal” – whatever normal is anyway.
As painful as this can be you are being urged to feel, to feel everything. That is why we have senses, so use them.
We are not just our bodies; we are body-minds and these amazing bodies have messages for us, which for many don’t get heard and for many more get heard but not acknowledged. You may be feeling more in your bodies at this time because the messages are urging you to feel, to process and to evolve beyond your experiences.
As painful as some are and as joyful as others are now is the time to let what comes into your awareness be felt. Stop and notice when you get an ache or pain and be curious. Like you are encouraged to be curious in your yoga practice, well this is yoga in action, feeling what your body is bringing up so that you can integrate it and raise your frequency.
It is all about higher vibrations because to hold a higher vibration means holding more light and holding more light means helping Mother Earth, along with her people, evolve.
Opportunity is here right now to look at your life and let it fully express through you. There has never been a time when opportunity abounds, for you to act from your heart, like the cocoon emerging into the butterfly, this does not happen without struggle, without pushing and resting, allowing the process to take the time it needs with patience, loving kindness and gratitude. We are birthing a New Earth and that does not happen without struggle.
There is such a bigger picture going on right now and we are being asked to do what we can, you cannot save the world without looking inward and saving within you what is calling your attention.
Feel the aches and pains in your body, listen to the stories surfacing in your mind, feel and process because this is ascension in progress. Our Earth is ascending and we have the opportunity to ascend with her.

How?
Take time to feel what is going on in these layers of your being:

Physical body – any aches, pains, sensations calling your attention? Stop and feel them, notice where they are and ask the question: what does this mean? What do I need to do right now to move this? It might be enough to notice, or you might need to move, stretch, walk, dance, sing, express express express in the way you feel guided. On a physical level there is a lot of relief to be had in connecting with Earth, barefoot on the earth and letting yourself release into her. There is also a lot to be had in resting more, so rest more.
Pranic body – notice your energy levels and honour them. If you need to rest more then rest more, if you need to speak then speak, if you have unspoken words restricting your throat area then get them out. Notice your breath and start breathing into everything! Your breath is like an alchemist, it changes things pretty quickly, use it. Breathe into everything, sigh, sing, play a musical instrument, feel and act on what is wanting to be expressed through you.
Emotional body – feeling is so important, no longer can we hold down emotions, they need to be felt, there are no good or bad emotions it is all energy in motion and it needs to move and be expressed, moved and be transmuted. Again, be curious as you feel it coming up, talk to your feelings, feel your feelings, express and release, grow and evolve.
Mental body – intuition, we all have it. The question is do you listen to it? Now is the time to start tuning in because it is calling you! First thoughts are often the most authentic so jot them down on paper or record them into your phone recorder or something. They might not make sense right away but if you come back to them a day or week later and revisit they most likely will.
Bliss body – the ever-expansive ocean of consciousness that you can get lost in and time disappears. May I be as bold to say that this is why yoga exists? To prepare us and take us into states of inner stillness and peace, into expansive states of blissful nothingness but everythingness! I know this is not a word but hey, our language doesn’t have the words to explain most of this!
Be kind, loving and gentle with yourselves as these are challenging times on every level. Feel it all, precious beings of light. The time is now for you to be the fullest expression of yourself, let your light expand and be seen, let’s light up the world so nothing can be hidden anymore.

Shining light on life

If you are reading this then you have been in training for the times we are experiencing right now. This is my personal plea for you to rise above the current fear campaign and shine your light for humanity and planet Earth.

It is time to unplug from the biased, fear-based media drama that is wearing you down and increasing your chances of becoming ill. Instead turn off your news channels, stop reading the newspapers and listening to yet another panel discussing COVID-19. What you are not being told is that as a human being you have the most amazing immune system that is capable of dealing with incredible challenges when left to its own devices. What will affect your immune system and bring you down is constant drama and fear-based news.

Start tuning inward to your inner resources. They may not have been called upon for some time, but it is not too late. What is your intuition saying to you right now? What can you do to boost your immune system? Many have been given the gift of more time at home due to less travel, if you are working from home, or loss of work. If that is the case then you have the time to work on your greatest asset: YOU.

Now is the time, if you haven’t already, to create a vision for your life that is the most empowering vision you can come up with. A vision that includes creating a better world for humanity to thrive in and an Earth that is supported to flourish. Get your creative juices flowing, find images to support your vision, and create a soulful sentence or affirmation that can become your mantra to live by.

We’re living in extreme times that call for extreme action and collaboration to create new ways of being, of living and thriving. It’s time to raise the vibration of this planet to a point where the lower frequencies and people of ill intent get blinded by light and retreat. Let us create a life where we have freedom of speech, where we focus on wellness instead of illness, where we respect difference and can live together in harmony. Let’s create a society where food becomes our medicine once again and we support quality of life, living longer, healthier lives instead of dying longer by being over-medicated and making a minority rich in the process.

The time is NOW for you to shine your light and raise your vibration. This too is infectious and we need to spread this light and beam it into all the dark places. Help others find their lights and turn them on. Together we can make a difference.

How? I hear you ask. Try these things:

Don’t let this social distancing become normalised because as human beings we need to stay connected, not distanced! Keep images of social interactions around you and keep this vision. This social distancing is not the new normal! Stay connected as much as possible to family, friends and like-minded people.

Get out in nature every chance you get. Go to places that are full of life and prana such as the beach and forests. Fill your lungs with fresh clean air and expel any stagnation and staleness.

Start reflecting upon the food you eat and asking how much life force, or prana, is in your food. In other words, how much fresh food are you eating? It is imperative to keep you immune system healthy. You need to be eating whole foods, unprocessed, and not sprayed with poisons. Familiarise yourself with seasonal food and reduce the need to import produce.

Move your body every day. Our physical bodies are designed to move so find ways to move that are fun and enjoyable. Walking daily is one of the best things we can do. While you walk let go of tension in your shoulders, let your arms hang loosely, find a rhythm to your walk that feels good and let your body guide you to move in the most comfortable way for you. This can be a great exploration. As you move inquire as to how your body is feeling as you walk. What if you shorten your stride and slow down? How might it feel to notice the contact your feet make with the ground, how your feet roll from step to step? Do you lift your toes when you walk? There’s a lot to explore in the simple act of walking!

Watch what you say and don’t get hooked into the negative language that we are being bombarded with right now. There is nothing to be gained in fighting anything! You’ll see this word fight everywhere: fight COVID, fight cancer, fight for your rights. Stop and reflect on what that word conjures up in your mind; check your own internal dialogue and the words you use when talking to others. Let the fight go and find the courage to move towards what you want from your heart. Feel it before you overthink it.

Meditate daily at the very least. Use this time to surround the Earth in light and the people in love. What you’re not being told is that you are an amazing being capable of whatever you choose to put your mind and effort toward. Together, we can raise the vibration of this planet. Stand up and be counted as you create the way forward that makes your heart sing.

Why you should invest in quality yoga equipment

If you’ve been coming to class for a while, you may be considering getting your own yoga equipment. Or you may be wondering why you would bother, since the studio is equipped with everything you need.

Of course the studio equipment is there to be used, but having your own yoga gear is great for your practice. Here’s why:

Hygiene

We don’t need to remind you at this time that good personal hygiene is the best way to safeguard your health. If you have your own equipment, you are in control of when and how you wash it and you don’t have to worry about who might have sneezed on the studio mat in the class before you.

Safety

Listening to your body is the number one tip for preventing yoga injury, and correct use of props is probably number two. You don’t need props to practice yoga, but used properly they can take the pressure off the pose, allowing you to explore correct alignment with the support you need, thus deepening and improving your practice. The mat itself is a prop, providing grip and stability. Props are also great for when you’re practicing at home without the teacher’s eyes keeping a watch on your posture and safety. Which leads us to …

Yoga Anywhere

Your own yoga gear means you can take yoga anywhere, especially when it all stows away so neatly in a tote bag that fits your mat and props. Turn your living room into your personal yoga studio. Take your bag for road trips, work travel, holidays, down to the park – wherever you like! If you’re flying, having a yoga mat with you will be well worth the hassle of carrying it on board, especially if you have long layovers. Your body will thank you when you a) can practice some sequences to unkink after several hours in a plane and b) have somewhere to lie flat or lounge with a book that isn’t airport gate seating!

Energy Management

If you’ve never had your own mat, you might be surprised at how your mat becomes your personal, portable yoga ‘space’. It seems to take on the energy of your yoga, giving you a groundedness and sense of connection to your practice. You unroll your mat, step upon it and begin. It is an excellent tool for remaining focussed on your practice for as long as you are on your mat. We promote taking yoga ‘off the mat’ all the time, for many good reasons, but to some extent you can only take yoga off the mat if there was something on it to start with. We’ll let you ponder and reflect on that …

Safe & Ethical Equipment

There are many sources of yoga and fitness equipment available, ranging from cheap plastic mats all the way up to personalised mats with your own designs printed on them in myriad materials. Some are obviously more sustainable, ethical or better for your health than others, and it’s worth doing your research or going to a supplier you trust. You don’t want to be breathing in all sorts of chemical byproducts, so if you’re using one of those cheap plastic mats or a synthetic dyed blanket and you’ve decided yoga is something you are committed to, consider investing in a healthier option. Your body will feel even better after a yoga session, and the Earth will thank you for choosing sustainable materials.

The High Aspirations Yoga Kit, including mat, bag, block, bolster, blanket and strap.

Promotes Practice

All of these points boil down to one thing: they make yoga more accessible to you. If you are sick with a cold, you can stay home from class and still practice in a special space, or if you feel fine but there’s a flu going around, you know you’ll be pretty safe if you still go to class. If you are travelling, you can take your yoga with you. Your practice will be safer if you have some key props and know how to use them. You have a private, portable yoga space calling to you all the time. And you know what each item is made of, so you know the organic cotton blanket is waiting to hug you in relaxation and your mat isn’t releasing any unpleasant or potentially toxic particles.

We recommend Stretch Now for quality equipment. (This is an affiliate link, which means we receive a small commission at no cost to you.)

If you are thinking of purchasing new yoga equipment and aren’t sure where to start or what’s good, simply ask here or in class and we’ll help you out 🙂

Namaste,

Sarah & Kel

Mocha Chip Cookies

These gluten free biscuits are simple and easy to whip up when you’re on the hunt for an afternoon snack – plus they bake in under ten minutes so not long to wait! They are also pretty forgiving if you need to swap out an ingredient or two and chances are if you do a bit of wholefood baking, you’ll have everything on hand.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 C almond meal
  • 1/2 tsp bicarb soda
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 120g butter, softened
  • 1/3 C coconut sugar (or your choice of sweetener)
  • 1 tsp vanilla powder or essence
  • 3 Tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp ground coffee – freshly ground is best!
  • 1/2 C cacao nibs
Mocha chip cookies and a cup of chai tea!

Method

Preheat oven to 180° and line baking trays with baking paper.

Pulse the almond meal, bicarb soda and salt briefly in a food processor. Add the rest of the ingredients except cacao nibs/nuts and mix until combined. Stir in the cacao nibs by hand.

Spoon tablespoonfuls of the mixture onto the baking trays and flatten with the back of a fork or spoon.

Bake for about 8 minutes or until just starting to brown at the edges.

Cool on wire racks before serving.

Print friendly version

Notes

Using freshly ground coffee beans gives the biscuits a gritty coffee flavour that provides little bursts of coffee to balance the intensity of the cacao nibs. If you don’t have coffee beans, instant coffee will probably work but we haven’t tried it ourselves – let us know!

Chopped walnuts go wonderfully with the coffee and make a great substitute if you find yourself out of cacao nibs or don’t like the hardness of the nibs.

For a softer, chewier biscuit, use honey or maple syrup instead of sugar, about the same volume. If you’re trying to keep the fructose low, rice malt syrup is a great alternative that will also give a softer texture. If you like the crispier feel, granulated stevia is a good alternative.

The Power of Goal ‘Letting’

Happy new year! Kel Fox here, honoured to be heralding 2020 on Sarah’s blog! I have some thoughts on vision boards that I wish to share.

When it comes to goals, there are two ways of creating the life you want to live: ‘goal setting’ and ‘goal letting’. Both are powerful. One requires your personal effort and commitment and is necessary for the big, tough things that are your life purpose and you should go after them with everything you’ve got. The others are things that perhaps aren’t in your control as much, except that you have to acknowledge what you want and make space for it.

Goal setting is fairly obvious, and you know what you need to do – for example, I wanted graduate with my degree, so I set out a timeline with the units I had to complete and did the work. I want to publish books, so I make time to write and edit. My conscious willpower and drive is going to make it happen. There’s an abundance of information out there on how to make your goal setting achievable.

Goal letting is less obvious, but no less powerful. This is the one where your subconscious directs the process, and where tools like vision boards come in so useful.

I was involved in a vision boarding exercise several years ago. I have to admit: although I believed in the power of subconscious manifestation, I didn’t really expect anything to come from something as simple as a vision board. Perhaps if I had personally drawn all the images, or spent a week finding the exact representations of what I was looking for, it would have power. A couple of hours cutting and pasting and then a short ceremony to set intention? Not enough, I thought.

Skip ahead a few years, and I was cleaning out my office and I found the vision board. I looked at it and was surprised to see my cat on it! Sure, a sceptic might say I wanted a cat, so I found a picture of a cat, and then I went and got a cat, but that is not how it went. At the time of creating the board, I was living in a rental that didn’t allow cats, with no plans to move. By the time I had moved house, for circumstances completely unrelated to prospective pet ownership, I had forgotten about the vision board entirely. When I eventually started looking for a cat, I nearly got a black one. But there was a little grey tabby that stole my heart, waited for me at the gate to her pen while I was preparing her travel cage and she came home with me. A year later, I found the vision board. There was a grey tabby cat. As I looked at the rest of the board, I realised that the cat was the only thing on it that I’d really cared about.

Winifred, stealing my yoga mat

Another year, my partner bought me a diary for Christmas. It had a plain black cover and I happened to have a wolf sticker in my desk drawer so I stuck it on the diary. Eight months later, we got an Alaskan Malamute puppy and I thought nothing of it until I was staring at my diary one day and realised: there he was. It wasn’t planned that way.

Intrigued by that process, I put an image of a quill on the next year’s diary, with the thought that it would facilitate my publishing a book. I did a lot of writing that year, finishing two novel drafts and publishing a piece of poetry. But I didn’t publish my novel. I realise now that the quill was not specific enough. The universe doesn’t work in vague terms. Everything is precise and has a plan, right down to the tiniest details.

Does it work for bigger things than pets? I was reading through some old journals recently and I came across an entry from years before – perhaps six or seven years – where I wrote about what I was looking for in a partner. I was done with dating the wrong people and trying to make it work. I set down what I wished for. Then I forgot about it entirely. It wasn’t until I stumbled upon the entry years later, twelve months into a new and important relationship, that I realised I had found exactly what I’d asked for.

That was powerful.

I have many instances of writing things down, forgetting about it and then finding it later to discover it came to be. I think the power in vision boarding comes from:

  1. Clarifying what you want
  2. Setting that intention, and
  3. Allowing it – whether ‘it’ is what you expected or not – to be.

All three steps are vital. I could not find the partner I wanted until I figured out exactly who that person was meant to be to me. Then I had to set my intention to find that person: I committed my dream to a medium that stored the information (a journal or vision board is such a medium). I had to stop pursuing or even considering anything that was not quite right. Finally, I had to allow it, and that was the part where I had to accept and trust the universe to get it right, even if – paradoxically – that meant my vision never came to pass.

That trust is surrender. It is accepting that I am exactly where I need to be and who I need to be right now, and there is nothing else. Once I got that, I made space for something new that I could never have imagined was truly possible. “Conscious me” wrote that intention thinking I’d probably never attain it. “Subconscious me”, or the universe, or both, have much more creative power, as long as conscious me doesn’t get in the way with my self-imposed limitations.

The thing to be mindful of when manifesting like this is that you may not like the manner in which it comes about. A friend of mine has always wanted a swimming pool. Perhaps they thought they’d buy a house with a pool, or pay a company to come in and build one over a few days. They got the pool, in the form of their partner undertaking a year-long construction project in the backyard. The universe works in its own way, and like I said, the details matter. If the how or the when is important to you, your goal may be better served as an active goal setting exercise. But it’s worth remembering that life is a bit like watercolour painting: it doesn’t always go where you planned, but it is always beautiful in its own way.

I was prompted to write this post and share my experiences with visioning and manifestation because of Sarah’s upcoming workshop, so if visioning is something that interests you, you may wish to check it out. Either way, envision yourself a joyful and prosperous 2020 and may we all share and learn and grow together.

Peace, Kel
