Abhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic massage using warm oil applied from head to toe. When you combine warm quality oil with long rhythmic strokes to the whole body you:

90 minute session:
Your journey begins by stripping down to your underpants and wrapping yourself in a plush bath sheet. You then start seated with a guided grounding practice and a head massage whilst your feet soak in a tub of warm magnesium-enriched water.
Once your head massage is complete, your feet will be dried, and you will move onto the massage table to get comfortable to receive your whole body massage. Whole body means face, arms, belly, legs, and feet, then rolling over to have your back, arms, and legs completed. If you are not comfortable having your belly massaged, then please let Sarah know.
At the end of your massage, you’ll enjoy a nice hot cup of organic tea to reground you.
60 minute session:
As above, but without the foot bath and the tea.
90 minute session
Allow 90 minutes from the time you arrive to when you leave. You will be receiving a massage for 75 minutes and finishing with a herbal tea.
60 minute session
Allow 60 minutes from the time you arrive to when you leave. You will be receiving a massage for about 50 minutes and finishing with a glass of filtered water.
You will be removing your clothing down to your underpants. As warm oil is used liberally, you might like to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting some oil on.
Yes, you will be guided to roll from your back to your belly on the massage table.
Yes you will get covered in oil, and your hair will be oily from the head massage. To obtain the full benefit of the oil, it is suggested that you leave it on for at least 20 minutes before taking a warm shower to wash it off.
Yes, and you will be asked to complete a detailed health questionnaire at the time of booking your massage.
This massage is contraindicated for:
- Pregnancy
- During heavy menstrual bleeding
- Sunburn
- Acute infections
- If you have open wounds
- Head colds and sinus infection
